For almost two decades now, Wolves in the Throne Room has occupied a special place on the global metal scene, building a distinctive sound that transcends classic genre boundaries. Founded in the state of Washington, brothers Aaron and Nathan Weaver have from the beginning created music deeply rooted in nature, spirituality and a philosophy of life outside of contemporary urban trends. Their approach to black metal was radically different from the beginning: instead of nihilism and aggression, often typical and stereotypical of the genre, they prioritize atmosphere, repetitiveness and an almost meditative listening experience.
The album “Two Hunters” is often cited as one of the key releases that redefined contemporary black metal, while later works such as “Black Cascade”, “Celestial Lineage” and “Primordial Arcana” further cemented their status as innovators. Their music is characterized by layered production, long-form compositions that unfold like natural cycles, and a profound sense of space and atmosphere. For this reason, they are often associated with the so-called “Cascadian black metal” scene, though their influence extends well beyond regional or genre-based labels.
A key aspect of the band lies in their consistent vision: from analog production and a DIY ethos to a lifestyle in harmony with nature, Wolves in the Throne Room have cultivated an artistic identity that is equally compelling in its visual, conceptual, and sonic dimensions. Their live shows are renowned for an almost ritualistic atmosphere, where smoke, light, and sound converge to create a hypnotic experience that dissolves the boundaries between the audience and the performers. It is precisely this live dimension that makes them one of the most striking bands to witness on the contemporary scene—and this upcoming performance at Močvara will be no exception. Those who have seen them live will know.

Hailing from the swampy regions of Florida, Worm bring their signature blend of black and doom metal—a style they define as “Necromantic Black Doom.” Their sound has undergone a continuous evolution, progressing from raw black metal origins to the complex, atmospheric, and near-symphonic compositions found on more recent releases such as *Bluenothing* and *Starpath*. London-based Final Dose represent a younger generation on the scene, blending the coldness of black metal with the energy and directness of punk. Since forming in 2020, they have established themselves as one of the most exciting new acts, further solidifying their position within the European underground scene with the releases “Under the Eternal Shadow” and “Endless Woe.” They are definitely worth checking out.
