Supergroup BEAT plays King Crimson albums from the 80s.
ŠRC Šalata, Zagreb // Tuesday, July 7, 2026.
Members of the legendary King Crimson, Andrew Belew and Tony Levin, with the support of guitarist Steve Vai and Tool drummer Danny Carey, founded the BEAT project, and their interpretation will revive three cult King Crimson albums from the 80s at Zagreb’s Šalata stadium on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.
The albums “Discipline”, “Beat” and “Three Of A Perfect Pair” will receive a unique performance directed by music greats. Through their creative interpretation, BEAT brings a performance of the now legendary King Crimson releases from the 80s and the band that influenced the creation of progressive rock. For the first time, the band is coming to Europe, and a major tour takes them from the UK across the continent, when they come to Croatia for their only performance in our region.
The lineup of BEAT consists of guitarist and singer Adrian Belew and bassist Tony Levin, who also created King Crimson albums in the 80s, guitar virtuoso Steve Vai and Tool drummer Danny Carey. Commenting on BEAT, Adrian Belew says: “From 1981 to 1984, King Crimson made music that was timeless, bold and complex. For everyone who experienced it then, as well as those who didn’t, we aim to bring it back to life.” Tony Levin adds, “We’ll be performing some of my favorite songs again with this stellar line-up.”
The duo also recruited a great line-up that will present three King Crimson albums as BEAT. Steve Vai says: “It’s a privilege to perform timeless and one of the most significant music from the 80s onwards, with great performers.” Drummer Danny Carey adds that “there’s nothing better than lighting a spark and stepping out of your musical comfort zone with my three favorite musicians.”
The media has praised the band’s previous performances for their rhythmic complexity, sense of unique performance, and performance that brings both structure and improvisation, all captured on the album “BEAT LIVE” recorded at a performance in Los Angeles.
King Crimson has influenced numerous genres and bands through their music that combines older and more modern sounds. With elements of classical, jazz, folk, heavy metal, blues, and experimental music, the band has inspired the early progressive rock movement of the 70s since its founding in 1968, and has earned cult status. With the only permanent member, Robert Fripp, occasional hiatuses have brought new lineups, and singer and guitarist Adrian Belew and bassist Tony Levin have joined the band on three releases. King Crimson released the album “Discipline” in 1981, which laid the foundations of post-progressive rock, followed by the acclaimed “Beat” in 1982, and “Three Of A Perfect Pair” in 1984 was the last to feature Belew and Levin.
As a supergroup that revives King Crimson’s releases from the 80s, BEAT brings a unique experience to an impressive lineup of musicians. With a strong emphasis on musicianship, without any stage effects or large productions, BEAT will perform at the Šalata stadium in a seated concert.
Tickets go on sale from Friday, December 12, 2025, at 10:00 AM through the CoreEvent system.
