The concert was opened by SARCATOR Swedish black trash metal band which amazed us by their youthful energy. VITRIOL, American death metal band, came next and provided a very solid intro into the hell that was awaiting ahead. I was honestly amazed by the amount of energy the band emitted and the performance was great.

THE RUINS OF BEVERAST is a German blackened doom metal project that originated in Aachen in 2003, founded and led by Alexander von Meilenwald. While he performs live with a supporting band, all vocals and instruments on his six studio albums have been recorded solely by him. During this event, he showcased highlights from his extensive body of work and presented material from his latest release, “The Thule Grimoires”. I’m always amazed by solo-led projects and have lost all prejudice towards them as there are too many good examples of such projects turning out to be brilliant bands. The band sounded perfectly live and it was a pleasure to witness their calm and steady energy that transferred us into another dimension. Exactly as it is supposed to be, they managed to ease every trace of problems or worries and all that was present was their atmosphere and uncompromised vision of impending doom ahead.

1349, Norwegian black metal legends formed in Oslo 28 years ago came to Zagreb as part of the European tour “The Wolf and the King”. The band states that their mission is to restore recognizability of Norwegian black metal to the way it was in the early 90s. Themes are classical ones: satanism, apocalypse, darkness, misanthropy and similar and it all could be felt in the overall atmosphere of the concert. The amount of energy the band emitted could easily heat up the whole village during heavy winter and definitely they succeeded in warming up the atmosphere at the venue where no one was left untouched. The setlist was good enough to satisfy even the hardest fans and surely there were no disappointed ones as it was rather comprehensive, and the band played for a solid amount of time.

The overall event was great as once again; the mixture of different bands brought us refreshment and even more satisfaction as everyone could pick and choose according to their liking and maybe even discover something new about likes/dislikes within specific genres.
