One of Iceland’s most recognizable bands, Sólstafir, is returning to Zagreb after three years! As part of their “Eastbound and Down 2026” European tour, they will perform on Monday, November 9, 2026, at the Močvara club. Special guests will be the Zagreb-based band Moraines! Early bird tickets have sold out. Advance tickets are priced at 32 euros, while tickets purchased on the day of the concert—if any remain—will cost 35 euros. They are available via the Hangtime website, and physical tickets can be purchased at the Dirty Old Shop.
From their beginnings in Icelandic black metal to becoming a band that has built a musical world entirely of their own, Sólstafir has successfully eluded genre categorization for over three decades. Formed in Iceland in the mid-nineties, their music has evolved over the years from raw black metal into a distinctive blend of post-metal, post-rock, psychedelia, and classic rock. The name “Sólstafir” refers to sunbeams breaking through the clouds—a fitting description for the contrast between darkness and light that permeates their music.
Their debut, “Í Blóði og Anda,” was released in 2002, while subsequent albums “Masterpiece of Bitterness” (2005) and “Köld” (2009) helped them forge the signature sound for which they would later become known far beyond the confines of the metal scene. A major breakthrough arrived in 2011 with the album “Svartir Sandar,” which features “Fjara”—arguably their biggest hit. Three years later, they released “Ótta,” further expanding their soundscape with strings and piano, followed by “Berdreyminn” in 2017 and “Endless Twilight of Codependent Love” in 2020.
The current chapter of their career is titled “Hin helga kvöl”—their eighth studio album, released in 2024. On this record, Sólstafir once again blend heaviness, melancholy, and monumental rock arrangements with the atmosphere of the Icelandic landscape—an element that has long since become one of the band’s hallmarks. Today, the lineup of Sólstafir consists of Aðalbjörn Tryggvason (guitar, vocals), Sæþór Maríus Sæþórsson (guitar), Svavar Austmann (bass), and Hallgrímur Jón Hallgrímsson (drums, backing vocals).
After a three-year hiatus, the Zagreb audience will once again have the chance to experience them live—this time in the intimate concert setting of Močvara.
It would be a shame to miss out on these Icelandic masters—be sure to secure your tickets in time! Web: https://solstafir.is/

Moraines is an instrumental quintet from Zagreb, founded in 2007. Over the years, the band has developed its musical identity into a distinctive and unique blend of post-metal, post-rock, math rock, and progressive rock.
Following their debut EP, *The Perfect Pantheon of Absence* (2008), the band entered an extended period dedicated to redefining their sound, arranging material, and recording their debut full-length album. For the mixing and mastering stages, the band enlisted heavy hitters from the global music scene: the album was mixed by Michael Patterson (Nine Inch Nails, Beck, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club) and mastered by Howie Weinberg (Nirvana, Deftones, Circa Survive). After more than a decade in the making, the album *Future Histories* was released in 2025 through the Zagreb-based label and concert promoter, Los Angeles Agency. Critics (Jagatić, Dragaš, Krmpotić, Knežević) welcomed the release with glowing reviews, consistently ranking it among the best records of the year. Today, Moraines function as a mature and articulate artistic entity—as one would expect after nearly twenty years of existence—possessing a clear vision and the ambition to further develop their work through live performances and increased international visibility. Their music, rooted in years of dedicated effort, exploration, and collaboration, offers audiences a layered and intense listening experience that transcends genre boundaries, establishing them as one of the most compelling bands on the domestic instrumental scene.
Having bolstered their lineup to create an even more massive “wall of sound,” Moraines are currently continuing the concert promotion of their album *Future Histories*. Simultaneously, they are pouring their energy into a new single, a music video, and an upcoming release—one that will see them venture once again into the uncharted waters of genre mutation, with an explosive departure from their previous work.
