LEÆTHER STRIP is a solo project of the legendary Danish electronic industrial artist Claus Larsen, formed in 1988, although he had already been in three bands by then. He signed his first contract with the German electro label Zoth Ommog in 1989, and LEÆTHER STRIP quickly became one of the most exciting new names in Europe in the early nineties. He was and remains a great inspiration to many of today’s younger performers, and is also still one of the most productive and active artists on that scene. His concerts are known for their fast pace and energy, and he performs many of his classic hits such as “Strap Me Down”, “Don’t Tame Your Soul” and many others.
The first release was in 1989 – the single “Japanese Bodies”, and since then he has released more than 30 albums, among others “Pleasure of Penetration”, “Serenade for the Dead”, “Seasons Change, I Don’t”.
His performances are recognized worldwide for their strong industrial energy and powerful stage presence.
Larsen’s lyrics for Leæther Strip are often brutal and direct, sometimes even to the point of a hostile tone. Political songs include the anti-Nazi “AEighty AEight” which features the line “You are not human / You are not soldiers” in the chorus, as well as the song “Suicide Bombers” (on the “Suicide Bombers” EP) with the question in the chorus: “Who told you to die that way?” More often, however, Larsen explores his own personal problems in the same open way, which results in numerous songs that are both aggressive and introspective.
This year he has released two new albums, and Leæther Strip will promote them on a world tour. In addition to the Zagreb audience, the Belgrade audience will also enjoy his music the day before at Zappa Barca, also organized by Hangtime.
