THE MANDRAKE PROJECT – Bruce Dickinson returns to Budapest with a solo concert!
Bruce Dickinson, the frontman of Iron Maiden, one of the greatest and most characteristic heavy metal singers of all time, will release a brand new solo album in early 2024 after 19 years. The release of the album named The Mandrake Project will be followed by a tour that will also include Budapest, on June 1, 2024 there will be a Bruce Dickinson concert at Barba Negra.
AFTERGLOW OF RAGNAROK – The brand new single will be released on December 1st.
Bruce Dickinson’s name is best known as the singer of Iron Maiden, but he is also a true multi-talent: writer, pilot, presenter, brewer, businessman, athlete, spoken world performer, screenwriter and a successful solo singer. We have seen him with Iron Maiden several times in Hungary, the last time in 2022, and four years ago he visited us with his hugely successful one man show that was equivalent to stand up comedy. Now he is coming to Budapest again as a solo performer with his own songs.
The Mandrake Project album, which will be released in early 2024, saw Dickinson work again with her longtime musician and producer Roy Z. This will be the singer’s seventh solo album and his first since 2005’s Tyranny Of Souls.
The first single is Afterglow of Ragnarok, a dramatic and epic song that not only introduces the album’s music, but also the compelling narrative that underpins The Mandrake Project. It will be released on December 1st as a vinyl single, which also includes an eight-page comic.
“It was important to set the tone for the project with this track,” explains Dickinson. “As the title suggests, it’s a tough song with an amazing riff that drives it… but there’s also a real melody in the chorus that shows the play of light and shadow that the rest of the album will bring… and just wait until you see the video !”
Back in September, dates in Brazil and Mexico were announced for April and May next year, and now Bruce Dickinson and his phenomenal band – consisting of guitarist Roy Z, drummer Dave Moreno, bassist Tanya O’Callaghan and keyboardist Mistheria – have revealed the the continuation of the tour with several European performances – including the one in Budapest – in addition to several European festival performances.
Dickinson previously revealed: “This album has been a very personal journey for me and I’m extremely proud of it. Roy Z and I have been planning, writing and recording for years and I’m so excited for people to finally hear it. I’m even more excited about the possibilities of hitting the road with this amazing band we’ve assembled to play the material live. We plan to play as many concerts as we can, in as many places as possible, for as many people as we can! What The Mandrake Project really is…all will soon be revealed!”
Well, in any case, we don’t have to wait long for the new record to be unveiled, and on June 1st we can hear Bruce Dickinson live at Barba Negra.
